We were holding out hope that the '06 Pilot would be fixable, after talking to the adjustor. However, my dad got the call today that there were $16k in damages. They offered $9600. We all think that's horseshit so I printed out some values online, along with a page from AutoTrader. I think it could have been sold for $12k the day before the crash and there were new tires that weren't even a month old! My mom wants a Beige/Amber colored '15 Pilot w/leather, though keeps saying she would drive something cheaper (I told her "If you are going to have payments for 3-4 years, you might as well get something you are happy with. You might say cloth is ok now, but next year I know you will be regretting it. Same with buying a smaller car") I'm trying to find a used Pilot, but they usually have too many miles or seem too expensive for what they are. I've been meaning to post pictures, but I haven't had the chance to download them to my computer.

I'll sell you my 07 with 47k miles. You just have to bring it back from Eastern Europe.
P.s. The blood from 'incidents' might not pass customs.

Have you seen the crash test on the 2014 pilot?

hehe. used hondas. very high prices.
Pilots. ehhh. the current gen dates back to 2009, so its a 5 year old design now.

I've seen this, I also saw how the old one saved my mom's life. I take the IIHS with a grain of salt.

I told her to get an e46 M3...but she has 2 kids and loves the cargo room and reliability of the Pilot. They were going to wait until the 2016's came out, but given my mom is a technophobe the older design is probably in her favor.

I will say that the older one is a much better overall car based off of my families experiences with owning 2003,2005,2008,and 2011 pilots. The 2003 and 2005 were great, the 2008 had a few issues, and the 2011 was insanely low quality.

it helps if you suggest a car thats actually, you, a reasonable suggestion :P
2 kids and needs a pilot? *sigh* any wagon will do fine...
actually, what does an accord crosstour go for? IIRC they have AWD. and given that its a accord wagon more or less, its defiantly got the space. it will also savea lot on fuel ups.

The '14 seemed nice, if a bit behind the times. This isn't my money, and if I was going to blow 40k on a car, it sure-as-hell wouldn't be a family SUV. That '06 was the best car we've ever had (except possibly the garage queen Miata, currently in hibernation). Literally there were no problems with it, it always started, and it was fun once you laid on the gas.

Have her look at the new Highlander. I've heard good things about them.

She grew up with an AMC Ambassador wagon...she refuses to drive a wagon or minivan. She did express interest in the Outback though (almost a wagon). If she buys one, I'll make sure she buys the 3.6R. The 4 cylinder appears to be a dog. The Crosstour is too ugly I guess.

She doesn't want to car shop, and really we don't have time to. But I will take the Highlander in to consideration.

Its basically a generation ahead of the Pilot. I'm pretty sure that 2015 is the last year of the current gen pilot.

The Pilot's more bland then anything, I do think the older one looked much better though

If I was going to go to Toyota, I would get the 4runner though, much easier on the eyes. The Highlander looks like it's going to eat you, while the Pilot looks a stupid, but happy dog.

If the highlander looks like it's going to eat you the current 4runner looks like Darth Vader is going to eat you. That said I love the new 4runners

The 4-Runner is a REAL SUV, I can live with the looks for lowrange 4WD. (That would be fun to take mommy's car mudding)

Either of those seem to be competent suvs. I for one prefer something lower and with a trunk (dynamics wise), but eventually, I'd like to have two cars, one sports coupe/convertible, and a truck/SUV for the winter.
